Earth Hour...

It was lovely to spend an hour in darkness last night with my global family,  so many houses around me joined in, and it was nice to 'stand together' acknowledging the earth hour.

What a sky! It was so bright, although I wasn't sure if it was because of the lights or just because of the night!  We spotted Orions belt, and Beetlejuice! We were all reluctant to turn the lights back on, but with laundry to finish, and tea to make!

We turned out light off too. It was fun to run around the house in the dark. My brother played a crazy version of tag/hide-and-go-seek while the lights were off. We had so much fun that we never turned them back on.

Wasn't it lovely? The kids loved it too.
I suddenly remembered how frequent blackouts were, both when we were kids, and even when we first moved in here. Funny, I don't remember when they stopped. But it was kinda nice having to know I could find matches and candles in the dark!

Fantastic!
Our sky was filled with snow. Like a snow globe. Not quite as nice as stars, but pretty in its own right :)

What fun! It must have looked like a mexican wave from space, all the countries turning off the lights one hour to the next!
